Seattle’s Own APEC - THE COMMENTARY

By Joseph Planta

VANCOUVER - I know some people reading today’s title might consider it rather presumptuous I compare the current WTO riots to our own APEC fiasco of some years back. Truth be told, I think I’m wrong too. There is so much going on in that town, that it worries me. I don’t think its a legitimate protest. All it is, are a bunch of bums, who’ve been toked to high heaven, marching for crap. Unlike our APEC, the group down south are from all over. All kinds of causes they’re trying to trumpet and from all parts of the world, not just the Emerald City.

I think the World Trade Organization is a good idea, but somehow in the process it has some serious flaws. I can’t fathom an organization like that having such sweeping and immense powers. I think it’s unfair and simply wrong to have a group of foreigners dictate decisions that will supersede a country’s constitution. Now, I think that these buggers protesting in the streets of Seattle are wrong, too. Their collective cause has been lost, the sea of opinions and rhetoric they spew have been drowned out by their own immense sea of numbers.

I have always been a fan of democracy. I think the APEC situation was absolute dictatorial on the part of the PMO and I sympathise with people like Craig Jones. But, in the case of this WTO riots and the anarchy that’s taking that town over, I have to vent my disgust and my regret. People like this Garth Mullins, who’s been at every major protest in this town, toting his gang of rented crowds that raise hell at every instant. These buggers headed by head bugger Mullins, are making a total mockery of democracy. I’m sure they care, but they’re part of a collective bunch of silly and stupid goons that are making complete fools of themselves.

Anarchy doesn’t work. Of these protesters in Seattle, I can’t imagine where there hearts are. Violence and buffoonery on their part looses any sort of credibility in their cause, whatever the cause is. I could care less now on what their preaching and protesting about. Garth Mullins goes on television last night and says he’s protesting for the good of all peoples in this country and others. He thinks he has my interests at heart, well I’ll move to Cuba before I’m subjected to live in a society’s that run by a bugger like him.
