Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

This is the Planta: On the Line program here at THECOMMENTARY.CA.

Requiem for My Brother is a new book from freelance writer and broadcaster Marian Botsford Fraser. It's a poignant memoir about her brother's life, their childhood in Northern Ontario, their adult lives, and his too soon death after a battle with MS and skin cancer. The author Nino Ricci says of the book: "A very honest book, uncompromising and deeply affecting. Beautifully written." Marian Botsford Fraser's work has appeared in Granta, The Walrus, the Globe and Mail and Toronto Life. Her previous books include Solitaire: The Intimate Lives of Single Women, and Walking the Line: Travels along the Canadian/American Border. Requiem for My Brother is a remarkable book; sometimes reminding me of The Year of Magical Thinking. Please welcome to the Planta: On the Line program, Marian Botsford Fraser; Good morning, Ms. Botsford Fraser.
