Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line. This is THECOMMENTARY.CA.

You might recall this past June reading and watching some of the commemorations of the fiftieth anniversary of the collapse of the Second Narrows Bridge. Now, a detailed and highly readable account is out, describing what happened on 17 June 1958, and in its aftermath, where 18 people lost their lives. There is a tremendous amount of research done unravelling what happened, and what remains one of Vancouver's great mysteries. The author of Tragedy at Second Narrows: The Story of the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge, Eric Jamieson joins me now. This is his second book, and it makes for gripping reading. From Harbour Publishing, the book retails for $32.95. Please welcome to the Planta: On the Line program, Eric Jamieson; Good morning, Mr. Jamieson.
