Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line. This is THECOMMENTARY.CA.

The journalist, humourist, and author Jane Ganahl joins me now. She wrote the popular 'Single Minded' column in the San Francisco Chronicle for nearly five years, and is the editor of Single Woman of a Certain Age: Romantic Escapades, Shifting Shapes, and Serene Independence, a book that's just been reissued in paperback. It's a book of 29 essays that look at the single life for women in their prime. It's an often funny collection of essays, about going to singles dances, internet dating, divorce, and more. More and more women over 40 are dating and not finding themselves married, not because they couldn't land anybody, but because they're happier single. Jane Ganahl will be speaking here in Vancouver at Barbara-Jo Macintosh's Books to Cooks on Friday, 29 May 2009 at 6.00pm. You can meet Jane, as she'll read from this book; I'm told there'll be refreshments and a copy of the book with the price of admission. You can read Ms. Ganahl on the Huffington Post, and at Match.com. Visit http://www.bookstocooks.com for more information on the event, and visit Jane's site at http://www.janeganahl.com. The book is published by New World Library. Please welcome to the Planta: On the Line program, Jane Ganahl; Good morning, Ms. Ganahl.
